Located in the heart of the medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, the castle, built at the beginning of the 14th century, was initially a fortress. In the 17th century, it was embellished with Baroque ornamentation. Converted into a municipal museum in 1946, it houses the Museum of the Olive Tree and modern art collections, including some forty portraits of the famous cabaret singer Suzy Solidor (by Dufy, Picabia, Foujita, Cocteau...).

Domaine des Collettes, with its olive and citrus trees and a panoramic view on the Mediterranean, is where Auguste Renoir spent the last ten years of his life, until 1919. This fine home has been preserved intact. The painter's furniture, studio, personal possessions, photograph and works (including eleven original paintings) provide a warmatmosphere to this house. “The painter of happiness” found in this place an always renewed inspiration.

From Cubism in the early 20th century to the "objects" of 1920, Fernand Léger's work became more humanized in the 1930s. After a stay in the United States during World War II, his paintings were characterized by an explosion of colour. The artist then turned to new techniques such as ceramics and mural decoration.
